Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple left a commencement speech in 2005 at Stanford University to the graduation students. It was an exceptional and helpful commencement. Here we are going to share the commencement.
He delivered a nice speech at the university. He said that he felt proud by joining the ceremony. He shared three important part of his life with the students. His life was really adventurous. First of all he started his speech with the educational experience of his life. This experience was bitter really.
Steve Jobs was a drop out student of Reed College. He shared his story with the students. His mother was in the study at that time. She was a college girl. She decided to bring up me by a graduate couples. She was very interested to do that. Just before the birth of Steve Jobs, the graduate couples changed their decision at last. They informed that they need a girl baby. Then the mother of Steve makes phone calls to the others who were in the waiting list for the baby. She informed them the details and asks them about me. They replied yes. Later Steve Jobs knew that his original mother have not completed graduates & his father is a high school too.
Steve Jobs went to the college when he was 17 years old. He realized the difference between him and others. He felt that a lot of money is being spent for education. But in return of education is he getting anything. At last he reached to a conclusion. He decided finally to drop out. He thought that the decision was perfect. Still now he thinks the decision is right.
Everything was not so easy. He had to work hard in his day to day’s life. He used to wait for a specific day in the week. On that day he went to Hare Krishna Temple to get a nice meal. Moreover, he had to stay in the floors with his friend. He had to struggle hard to pass his life.
During that time Stanford University has arranged a calligraphy course. There are lots of designs and others related to calligraphy were taught there. Steve Jobs couldn’t attend in the formal classes because he was drop out. Though he attended this course and gathers his experience. He never thought that this calligraphy will help him in his practical life. But ten years later he has found it as fruitful. He applies the learning of calligraphy when he designs MAC operating system. He added that he never attend the calligraphy class if he was not drop out. And if he doesn’t do the course of calligraphy it was not possible to add such nice typography in the MAC operating system.
Then he shared his second story with the students
First of all Steve loved his work very much and probably this love and attention to the work is the key of his success. He said that he and Wozniaki found the Apple in the early 1976. At that time Steve was only 20 years old. Both Steve and Woz work hard for the company. They get the result within 10 years. They made $2 billion by this time. There are lots of employee works there. It was about 4000. Unfortunately, Steve was fired from the company which he found. It is really a matter of wonder. Steve explained about it that they taken some employee who was good in work. They thought they will be able to run the company. Everything was going well in the first year. Then the new employee and others made a group and Steve became alone. That’s the reason of leaving Apple. There is no doubt that his commencement was so nice.
During that time Steve was confused what to do. He considered those days as a very bad days of his life. He was only 30 at that time. Then he started a new company named next. Another company named Pixer. Pixer had made the first animation film of the world named toy story. It is the most popular animation studio at the present time. Then Apple bought Next Company & Steve again joined to Apple. He mentioned that bad days may come in your life, but it will teach you something. So, never loss your hope and spirit
Third Story about death
He has mentioned some important and deep issues in this part of commencement. This is about death. However the commencement was running so well. He said that in the early years he read a poem. In the poem it was written to consider everyday as your last day. It has made a deep impression over him. From then he used to maintain this quotes. He became sick seriously. After completing the diagnosis, doctor found a tumor in his pancreas. And doctor told him that it is incurable & and suggest him to take leave from the works. He said that it was just like the preparation of death. But after a few days another biopsy result found. Then the doctors told the tumor as curable. Then he had surgery and become come around.
He added that life is short and death is obligatory. So don’t waste a single moment of your life. Moreover it is important to follow your heart. Your heart knows yourself more than anything else.
