On Saturday, Houston’s publicist confirmed to the Associated Press that the award-winning “I Will Always Love You” singer died. She was 48. The timing of her death, the eve of the Grammys, the biggest music event of the year, makes the horrible news even more tragic. According to CNN, Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. PT at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The Beverly Hilton is the venue for the music industry’s most prestigious pre-Grammy party hosted by veteran executive Clive Davis, who discovered Houston.

In an industry flooded with novelty artists, who disappear after scoring one hit, Houston’s longevity was unquestioned when she released her debut single, the ballad “You Give Good Love” in February 1985. The song’s soothing opening ad-libs displayed her soulful roots while also celebrating her pop sensibilities.

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission has announced the final results of the 30th BCS examination.

The PSC has recommended appointment of 2,367 of the 5,810 candidates clearing the final hurdle, examination controller A E M Nesaruddin told bdnews24.com on Wednesday.

“We’ve recommended appointment of only 2,367 candidates to various cadres due to lack of vacant posts,” he said.

“We’ll try to appoint those who failed to get recommendations for appointment to non-cadre posts. But that’s not certain,” he added.

According to him, out of the 2,367 candidates getting recommendations, 1,623 are male and 744 female. Decision on 13 other candidates’ recommendations is yet to be taken due to ‘complexities over information’ and other administrative reasons.

The preliminary test was held on July 30 last year, and the written and viva-voce in several phases this year.

Early results from polling stations in Tunisia have put the Islamist Ennahda Party in the lead in many constituencies.

Electoral officials are counting votes in landmark elections that saw more than 90% of registered voters cast ballots.

Official results are not expected until later on Monday or on Tuesday.

Boubker Bethabet, secretary general of the country’s election commission, said more than 90% of the 4.1 million registered voters participated.

Radio Mosaique FM posted results from polling stations around the country, with many showing a commanding lead for Ennahda.

Dhaka, Bangladesh , Oct 8 ::  Eight Bangladeshi migrants have been beheaded in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh.

The eight had been executed in public on Friday.

They were sentenced to death for the alleged murder of an Egyptian man in April, 2007, an interior ministry statement said on Friday.

They are Mamun Abdul Mannan, Faruq Jamal, Sumon Miah, Mohammed Sumon, Shafiq al-Islam, Masud Shamsul Haque, Abu al-Hussain Ahmed, Mutir al-Rahman.

The men were convicted of robbing a warehouse and killing the security guard, Hussein Saeed Mohammed Abdulkhaleq, an Egyptian national.

Three other men were sentenced to various prison terms, the statement in Arabic said.

Human rights group Amnesty International condemned the execution in a statement, also on Friday.

“Court proceedings in Saudi Arabia fall far short of international standards for fair trial and news of these recent multiple executions is deeply disturbing,” the group’s Middle East and North Africa director, Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, said.

“The Saudi authorities appear to have increased the number of executions in recent months, a move that puts the country at odds with the worldwide trend against the death penalty,” he added.

The organisation also pointed out that majority of those executed recently in Saudi Arabia is migrant workers from poor and developing countries.

Most of the defendants have no defence lawyer, have insufficient hold of the Arabic language to follow proceedings and in many cases are not informed of the progress of legal proceedings against them.

They also have no access to influential figures or money, both of which might have secured them pardons. Saudi Arabia applies the death penalty for a wide range of offences, the statement said.

Criticising the process of conviction the rights body said that it might have been only based on confessions obtained under duress or deception.

The beheadings bring the number of executions in Saudi Arabia this year to at least 58, more than double than the 2010 figures. Twenty of those executed in 2011 were foreign nationals.

At least 158 people, including 76 foreign nationals, were executed by the Saudi Arabian authorities in 2007. In 2008 some 102 people, including almost 40 foreign nationals, were executed.

In 2009, at least 69 people are known to have been executed, including 19 foreign nationals and in 2010, at least 27 people were executed including six foreign nationals.

Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple left a commencement speech in 2005 at Stanford University to the graduation students. It was an exceptional and helpful commencement. Here we are going to share the commencement.

He delivered a nice speech at the university. He said that he felt proud by joining the ceremony. He shared three important part of his life with the students. His life was really adventurous. First of all he started his speech with the educational experience of his life. This experience was bitter really.

Steve Jobs was a drop out student of Reed College. He shared his story with the students. His mother was in the study at that time. She was a college girl. She decided to bring up me by a graduate couples. She was very interested to do that. Just before the birth of Steve Jobs, the graduate couples changed their decision at last. They informed that they need a girl baby. Then the mother of Steve makes phone calls to the others who were in the waiting list for the baby. She informed them the details and asks them about me. They replied yes. Later Steve Jobs knew that his original mother have not completed graduates & his father is a high school too.

Steve Jobs went to the college when he was 17 years old. He realized the difference between him and others. He felt that a lot of money is being spent for education. But in return of education is he getting anything. At last he reached to a conclusion. He decided finally to drop out. He thought that the decision was perfect. Still now he thinks the decision is right.

Everything was not so easy. He had to work hard in his day to day’s life. He used to wait for a specific day in the week. On that day he went to Hare Krishna Temple to get a nice meal. Moreover, he had to stay in the floors with his friend. He had to struggle hard to pass his life.

During that time Stanford University has arranged a calligraphy course. There are lots of designs and others related to calligraphy were taught there. Steve Jobs couldn’t attend in the formal classes because he was drop out. Though he attended this course and gathers his experience. He never thought that this calligraphy will help him in his practical life. But ten years later he has found it as fruitful. He applies the learning of calligraphy when he designs MAC operating system. He added that he never attend the calligraphy class if he was not drop out. And if he doesn’t do the course of calligraphy it was not possible to add such nice typography in the MAC operating system.

Then he shared his second story with the students

First of all Steve loved his work very much and probably this love and attention to the work is the key of his success. He said that he and Wozniaki found the Apple in the early 1976. At that time Steve was only 20 years old. Both Steve and Woz work hard for the company. They get the result within 10 years. They made $2 billion by this time. There are lots of employee works there. It was about 4000. Unfortunately, Steve was fired from the company which he found. It is really a matter of wonder. Steve explained about it that they taken some employee who was good in work. They thought they will be able to run the company. Everything was going well in the first year. Then the new employee and others made a group and Steve became alone. That’s the reason of leaving Apple. There is no doubt that his commencement was so nice.

During that time Steve was confused what to do. He considered those days as a very bad days of his life. He was only 30 at that time. Then he started a new company named next. Another company named Pixer. Pixer had made the first animation film of the world named toy story. It is the most popular animation studio at the present time. Then Apple bought Next Company & Steve again joined to Apple. He mentioned that bad days may come in your life, but it will teach you something. So, never loss your hope and spirit

Tamilnadu HSC Supplementary 2011 Results Published

After a long waiting the Government of Tamil Nadu and Directorate of Government Examinations has declared the HSC  Special Supplementary Examination (SSE) results  on July 28, 2011. The supplementary exams for failed students were held after the final exam results were announced on May 24, 2011. Around 10,61,566 students had taken the X class exams in 2011.

The results are declared at the board’s official website of Government of Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations.

The Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education (TNBSE) was established in 1910. The board evaluates students progress by conducting two board exams every year, one after the class 10 exams and the other one after the class 12th exams.

H.S.S. Lawrence is regarded as the person who designed the pattern of Higher Secondary Education in Tamil Nadu. Dr. Lawrence planned and implemented the All India 10+2+3 pattern of education in 1978.

Seven colleges in the capital are among the top 10 institutions under the Dhaka board.

The ministry of education has ranked those institutions based on five criteria –the number of students registered for the exam, number of students that appeared, pass rate, number of GPA-5 achievers, and the institution’s average GPA-5.

Rajuk Uttara Model College topped the list with 94.64 rank points followed by Mymensingh Girls’ Cadet College which secured 89.38 points.

Mirzapur Cadet College stood third with 88.72 points, while Viqarunnesa Noon College in the capital ranked fourth among the top institutions, with 88.51 points.

The other institutions are Notre Dame College in the city’s Motijheel which ranked fifth with 86.77 points, Dhaka City College sixth with 85.83 points, Abdul Kader Mollah City College in Narsingdhi seventh with 85.21 points, Holy Cross College eighth with 85.15 points, Residential Model College ninth with 85.05 points, and Shamsul Haque Khan School and College in the capital’s Demra secured tenth position with 84.44 points.

The education board has ranked 20 top colleges from each board.

The ministry has taken the new criteria in 2010 to avoid the controversy in selecting institutions with 100 percent success rates.
